Introduction to Strength & Balance Training for Older Adults: Instructors Course


Product Description

This course is an introduction to key concepts for people supporting older adults as they participate in physical activity and exercise. It is suitable for exercise leaderswithno formal exercise qualification

A) Online teaching modules cover the following topics:

  1. Setting the scene
  2. Review of basic anatomy
  3. Changes in the body with ageing
  4. Common health issues
  5. Common medications
  6. Health & fitness screening
  7. Teaching & leadership
  8. Programme delivery


B) Practical Workshop (This workshop will be available when current restrictions have eased)

On completion of the online component, there is a 2-day workshop exploring practical aspects of exercise for older clients, including screening tools, assessments, exercise options and contraindications, class delivery and health and safety.
